Princess Cruises has resumed operations of the first cruise ship to travel from Los Angeles, California. The company is currently operating two ships from LA and plans to add a third in 2019.

The first cruise ship to leave the Port of Los Angeles in almost eighteen months is leaving from Berth 93 at the World Cruise Center at the Port of Los Angeles. This week, the Grand Princess embarks on a five-day trip that will stop at the Mexican Riviera.
Princess Cruises’ return to Los Angeles is a significant event for both the cruise company and the city; the cruise line has a long history with the city, having sailed from the port for the first time in 1965.
The Grand Princess is the fourth Princess Cruise ship to re-enter service and the second ship in the Carnival Corporation fleet to sail from a Californian port, after the Carnival Panorama, which departed from Long Beach only a few weeks earlier.
Resumption of the Grand Princess
The 107,517 gross ton Grand Princess hasn’t sailed with paying passengers in 18 months. The cruise ship, which was constructed in 1998 and was the world’s largest and most costly ship at the time, is going to Cabo San Lucas on a five-day tour. Before returning to Los Angeles, the ship will spend a day and a half at sea and two and a half days at Cabo.
The Grand Princess will stick to the same schedule till November. She offers various cruises departing from Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera, including a 5-day Cabo San Lucas itinerary and a 4-day West-Coast Getaway that includes stops in San Diego, California, and Ensenada, Mexico.

Grand Princess will begin offering longer voyages in December. The first is a 10-day trip around the Sea of Cortez, which stops at Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Loreto, and Puerto Vallarta before returning to Los Angeles.
At January, the ship will embark on her maiden post-pandemic 15-day cruise to Hawaii, stopping in Lahaina (Maui), Hilo, Honolulu (Oahu), Nawiliwili (Kauai), and Ensenada, Mexico.

Guests traveling aboard the Grand Princess from Los Angeles must adhere to a number of health and safety requirements. Grand Princess, as many will recall, played a key part in the early days of COVID-19, when 159 cases were linked to two voyages on board.
Guests who have received their last dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start of the trip and have evidence of immunization are eligible for cruises.

On all Princess cruises, fully vaccinated passengers must additionally provide a negative, medically observed COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) done within two days of embarkation.
