Carnival Cruise Line is celebrating another wonderful day today with the resumption of passenger service on two more of its ships.

Luminous Carnival

The freshly rebuilt and renamed Carnival Radiance is taking sail on a four-night Baja Mexico trip today, fresh off the heels of its christening ceremony in Long Beach yesterday. The ship will dock at Ensenada, Mexico, as well as Catalina Island, California.

The trip is part of the Carnival Radiance’s new year-round three- and four-night Baja Mexico itinerary.

The ship is part of Carnival’s Sunshine-class, which is made up completely of rebranded and upgraded former Destiny-class ships.

The Carnival Radiance, formerly known as the Carnival Victory, went into dry dock in March 2020, just as the virus was spreading over the globe. Due to the health crisis, the shipyard and cruise industry stopped down, extending the intended 38-day dry dock to 19 months.

The ship had a $200 million restoration that included new interiors, additional venues, and a new hull paint job to match Mardi Gras and other freshly repainted boats in the fleet.

Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, Bonsai Sushi, RedFrog Pub, and Shaquille O’Neal’s counter-service eatery Big Chicken are among the new restaurants on board.

Carnival Panorama and Miracle, two more Carnival ships, are now sailing from Long Beach.

Conquest of the Carnival

Carnival Conquest will set sail from Miami today on the east coast. The Fun Ship is transporting paying visitors for the first time in 21 months.

The ship will set sail on a four-night voyage to the private islands of Princess Cays and Bimini in the Bahamas.

Originally planned to stop at Key West, the cruise company postponed trips until the island and the cruise industry can reach an agreement on cruise ship docking. The ship will go to the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean on three, four, and five-night cruises.

During the closure, the Carnival Conquest, along with the bulk of the other Carnival ships, anchored off the coast of the Bahamas, waiting for approval to sail again.

The warship is the flagship of the Conquest-class, having been launched in 2002. The ship has 60 percent balconies and was most recently refurbished in 2017.

Other Carnival Information

Carnival will have 19 ships back in operation and sailing from North America before the end of the year, with the bulk of them departing from Miami, Port Canaveral, and Galveston.

After an unforeseen engine problem forced Horizon to dry dock at the end of November, the cruise line announced that Sunrise and Liberty will start sailing sooner than scheduled.

Due to continuous limitations and lockdowns in Australia, the return to cruising isn’t happening as quickly.

Carnival Splendor and Spirit, both based in the nation, have announced that they would not begin sailing until at least Spring 2022. Both ships will have been out of service for more than two years by the time they return.
