The project will be implemented in two stages. The first phase focuses on the creation of Katmandu Park Punta Cana, which will include cutting-edge, first-of-its-kind rides and attractions such as the world’s first Suspended Theater, which will immerse visitors in Katmandu’s tales. In Phase 2, a top entertainment, eating, and shopping destination with world-renowned brands will be added.
“This major joint venture between Melia Hotels International and Falcon’s Beyond in Punta Cana, an exceptional destination where we’ve worked for over 30 years, will become the first world-class theme park and entertainment destination in the Caribbean,” said Gabriel Escarrer, Meliá’s Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
The $350 million investment plan also includes huge modifications to two Paradisus resorts in Punta Cana, including a reconstruction of Paradisus Punta Cana and extensive restorations of Paradisus Palma Real. By the end of 2023, the improvements should be almost complete.
The new Paradisus Punta Cana will have a low environmental effect, with energy efficiency, cutting-edge water and waste management, a circular economy, and carbon neutrality as primary considerations.

“With the launch of Paradisus Punta Cana in 1995, our Paradisus by Melia brand had its start,” said Andre P. Gerondeau, COO of Melia Hotels International. “With this new plan, it will be replaced with a destination resort that will add a new level of luxury to a brand that is loved by some of the world’s most discerning travelers, providing exceptional experiences based on an all-inclusive luxury service, extraordinary locations, and a sustainable and responsible management philosophy,” says the company.
“We’re actually developing a place like no other—a new level of entertainment for Punta Cana,” said Scott Demerau, Executive Chairman of Falcon’s Beyond Global. “This entertainment destination is meant to complement the day and night beach and resort experiences, giving guests a new incentive to visit the Dominican Republic and enjoy all it has to offer.”
