Former Carnival Cruise Ship Purchased by Century Cruises Heads for Scrapyard

The Century-owned Carnival Cruise Line has been sold to the scrapyard for $10 after a series of accidents involving its ships.

Century Cruises purchased the carnival sold ships for scrap. The company plans to use the vessels as a means of transportation for employees and guests.

The former Carnival cruise ship Carnival Fascination was about to set sail for new owner Century Cruises in China, and things were looking bright. However, it currently seems that the ship will be destroyed, making it the fourth Fantasy-class vessel to do so.

Alang Scrapyard is the place to go if you want to be enthralled by Carnival.

The hope had been that at least one of the old Carnival cruise ships would be preserved and continue to sail, but it seems doubtful now that Century Harmony (formerly Carnival Fascination) has made route for Alang, India. When a ship’s ultimate destination is Alang, the ship is almost certainly going to be demolished.

The ship is presently anchored in Singapore, according to Cruise Ship Tracker. The track indicates Alang, India, as the ultimate destination, with an arrival date of October 28, 2021.

Alang, on the country’s west coast, is home to a ship-breaking plant that has lately gained popularity as a result of ships being sold for scrap as a result of the pandemic’s effect.

Century Harmony was acquired from Carnival Cruise Line in 2020, shortly after the worldwide cessation of cruise operations. Carnival Corporation needs to get rid of several of its older ships.

After completing a renovation in China that began in May 2021, Century Harmony’s new operator, Century Cruises, intended to operate the ship. Light work began shortly after the ship left Cadiz, Spain, and work on the ship’s new name was completed during a stop in Gibraltar on the way to China at the end of 2020.

The bad news is that it seems Century Cruises has chosen to scrap the ship. The Chinese cruise line’s decision to unload the former Carnival cruise ship remains unknown. Steel costs are now at an all-time high, which may have influenced the decision.

Due to the epidemic, the cruise ship will become the fourth Fantasy-class vessel to be scrapped. Carnival Cruise Line sold the first ship to be beached at Turkey’s Aliaga shipbreaking plant, the Carnival Fantasy. Carnival Inspiration and Carnival Imagination joined her in the months that followed.

Other former Carnival ships, such as Grand Celebration (formerly Celebration), which was run by Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, and Magellan (formerly Holiday), which was operated by the now-defunct Cruise & Maritime Voyages, have also reached the end of the line during the tough times.

The Carnival Fascination will join the other previous Carnival ships, marking the end of a cruise line that has provided passengers with so many experiences throughout the years.

The fantasy-class cruise ship has a gross tonnage of 70,367 tons and a passenger capacity of approximately 2,000 people, as well as 920 staff members. In 1994, the ship was constructed in Finland and put into service for Carnival.
