Carnival Cruise News Update: What’s Happening Now?

Anyone who believed things would settle down now that the majority of Carnival Cruise ships are on the water may want to rethink. America’s cruise company has had a hectic seven days.

Everything has been occurring for Carnival Cruise Line this week, from Hurricane Ida affecting New Orleans and the Carnival Glory hosting first responders to the Carnival Liberty undergoing dry dock for the new livery.

Carnival Cruise Lines Has Launched Nine New Ships

First, let’s take a look at which Carnival cruise ships have returned to operation as part of the cruise line’s phased-in restart. Nine ships have been relaunched thus far in five different US states: Florida, Texas, Maryland, Washington, and California.

Since the suspensions started in March 2020, the Carnival Vista was the first ship in the fleet to resume operations. On July 3, the ship relaunched from Galveston, Texas. Since then, additional ships have returned to duty, and the following is the current list:

Carnival Vista departs from Galveston, Texas on July 3rd.
Carnival Horizon departs from Miami, Florida on July 4th.
Carnival Breeze departs from Galveston, Texas on July 15th.
Carnival Miracle departs from Seattle, Washington on July 27.
From Port Canveral, Florida, it’s Mardi Gras on July 31.
Carnival Magic departs from Port Canaveral, Florida on August 7th.
Carnival Sunrise departs from Miami, Florida on August 14th.
Carnival Panorama departs from Long Beach, California on August 21.
Carnival Pride will take place on September 12th in Baltimore, Maryland.

Carnival Glory is about to relaunch.

While New Orleans began the work necessary to bring the city back on its feet, Carnival Cruise Line reached an arrangement with the city and FEMA to lodge first responders aboard the Carnival GLory until September 18, 2021.

As power outages and other basic necessities continue, the ship will be a welcome respite for 2,600 first responders, medical personnel, and utility workers to sleep and eat; nevertheless, the arrangement means that one more trip aboard the Carnival Glory will be canceled:

“While we want to provide the city of New Orleans an economic boost by resuming passenger operations, we first need to handle emergency needs and restore electricity to the region,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We appreciate our visitors’ patience, as we know they adore New Orleans as much as we do.”

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that the ship will resume cruise operations from the city on September 19. The inaugural cruise will be to the Bahamas for seven days, including stops in Bimini, Freeport, and Nassau.

Cruises from Baltimore are once again available!

This week, Carnival passengers were able to board one of their favorite ships from the port of Baltimore, Maryland. On September 12, the Carnival Pride set sail from Baltimore, promising passengers pleasant cruise vacations to the Bahamas.

The fact that Carnival Pride was the first ship to sail from Baltimore in almost 18 months wasn’t lost on the port authorities:

“What a fantastic day for the Port of Baltimore!” said William P. Doyle, Executive Director of the Port of Baltimore. “We’ve been waiting a long time to see the Carnival Pride return to Charm City!

Carnival Pride isn’t only in the headlines this week because she’ll be servicing a second homeport later this year when she repositions from Baltimore to Tampa Bay, Florida!

Testing? It’s Starting to Get Easier!

It’s no wonder that cruise companies need to keep a close eye on everyone who boards their ships these days. The CDC’s new guidelines added to the pressure on cruise passengers, requiring two days of testing before departure. Carnival Cruise Line saw an opportunity to make things a bit simpler by introducing a new home testing option.

Guests may now request a test online, make a video chat to the personnel at eMed who will oversee the testing processes, and the test results will be accessible in a short time. While it isn’t perfect yet, the cruise company is clearly attempting to make things a bit simpler prior to boarding.

The Casino Protocols Have Been Tightened!

The new procedures Carnival adopted for the onboard casinos are one new protocol that will have an effect on visitors. The cruise company made a number of changes to how passengers may utilize the casinos. So, what’s new this time?

If you don’t play, you won’t be able to remain! The cruise company recommends that you do not remain at the casino if you or your companion are not gambling. Seats at gaming tables and slots are now allocated exclusively for players. Also, until further notice, the casino bar, which has been a favorite hangout for many Carnival visitors in the past, will stay closed. However, smokers seem to be the group most impacted by the new regulations.

If you are not playing, you are not permitted to smoke in the casino, and smoking is not permitted inside while the casino is closed. Last but not least, a facemask is required while not smoking or drinking. All of the new casino protocols may be found right here!

The Carnival Liberty will have a new livery in the near future.

Last but not least, Carnival Liberty will be receiving a makeover this week! Today, September 14, the ship will be dry docked in Cadiz, Spain.

While no major repairs are planned during the dry dock, the ships will get the new red, white, and blue hull design and color scheme that Carnival has adopted for all of its ships. Routine hotel maintenance and aesthetic improvements will be among the company’s other projects.

The Carnival Liberty will be the sixth ship to be repainted in the new look. Carnival Legend, the fifth ship to get the new livery, is now halfway across the Atlantic Ocean on her journey back to the United States.
