Expedia Group’s Fall Travel Outlook Finds Demand Is Still Going Strong

The Expedia Group released its fall travel outlook, which found that the industry is still going strong. This comes as no surprise to many, given that there are more than 7 billion people in the world and nearly 2 billion of them are expected to travel this year.

The expedia 2021 travel trends report is a 2019 forecast that predicts the demand for travel will increase.

According to Expedia Group’s recently published Fall Travel Outlook study, Americans are now at a historical juncture when the focus is changing from “when will the epidemic end?” to “how can we learn to adapt?”

Rising vaccination rates and decreasing COVID-19 case rates were observed throughout the country during spring and early summer, as states eased travel restrictions and individuals started traveling to visit friends and family or take a long-awaited vacation. Since the United States’ epidemiological profile had finally moved it out of the high-risk group, more foreign locations started to welcome Americans.

Then came the Delta variety, and case rates have been rapidly increasing throughout the country since then. It’s difficult to envision a day when we’ll be completely out of the woods, and people want to keep their newly rediscovered feeling of freedom while being secure. It, as we enter the autumn season, it’s obvious that people will continue to travel; the question is how they intend to do so.

Who wants to travel the most this fall?

The majority of Expedia Group’s 2,200 respondents have already made plans to travel this autumn, according to a study done in conjunction with Morning Consult (58 percent). In terms of generational leadership, Millennials (67 percent) are on top, followed by Gen Z (61 percent), Gen X (53 percent), and Boomers (53 percent).

Suburban people (62 percent) are the most inclined to travel this fall, followed by city dwellers (42 percent) (58 percent). The findings of the survey revealed that travel plans scale up with income level, with 80 percent of those earning six figures already planning vacations within the next three months.

Monthly travel searches were up 70% over the summer compared to earlier in the year, according to the Expedia Group Media Solutions Q2 Travel Recovery Trend Report, and there are signs that this upward trend may continue into the autumn.

Where Do Travelers Plan to Go?

The preference for large cities over small towns among American tourists reflects a desire for sunlight and open-air attractions, which may indicate that some individuals are better comfortable visiting crowded places with high vaccination rates. The following are the top U.S. destinations from September through November, as determined by hotel demand on Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire, Orbitz, and Travelocity.

1. The city of Las Vegas, Nevada

Orlando, Florida is number two.

New York City, New York City, New York City, New York City, New York City

Cancun, Mexico is number four on the list.

Orange County, California is number five.

6. The city of Chicago, Illinois

7. Los Angeles, California

Mexico’s Riviera Maya is number eight.

9. San Diego, California

Miami, Florida is number ten.

Who are they traveling with?

Although the majority of respondents want to travel with a significant other, solo travel has been more popular in recent months. When asked why they choose to travel alone, solitary travelers stated it was for a change of scenery (47%), self-discovery (34%), and to completely immerse themselves in their location (27 percent). In addition, Millennials and Gen Z (72 percent) seem to be more inclined than Gen X (59 percent) and Boomers to take solo vacations (47 percent).
