Disney is launching a new service called Genie, which will allow guests to book rides on the Walt Disney World Resort’s monorail system. The company also announced that it will be opening Lightning Lane, its first virtual reality roller coaster in Florida, this summer.
Disney has finally announced the launch date for their new Genie service and Lightning Lane. The service will be available on November 25th, 2018.
Walt Disney World intends to make visitors’ vacations even more memorable by using the new Disney Genie+ to create customized itineraries.
This free trip planner is accessible via the My Disney Experience app and includes the ability to buy fast passes through Disney’s new Lightning Lane system.

With four main theme parks, two water parks, a downtown retail area, many resort hotels, and all-new activities for the 50th anniversary, it’s easy to become overwhelmed at Walt Disney World.
With the Disney Genie+, Disney is removing some of the burden from the planning process. Customers may use the free app to log in and choose what interests them. The user is then given a personalized experience to help them get the most out of their day. Disney is using its extensive data gathering and real-time wait times to adjust each itinerary to include the most relevant activities while also ensuring that guests have the lowest wait periods possible.
The new My Disney Experience app extension will also let visitors plan around their current dining and theme park reservations, which may be modified during the day.
The Lightning Lane passes — the new fast pass system for the parks – will be housed in the Disney Genie+. While the conventional queue will remain open, visitors will be able to purchase a day pass or a la carte tickets for certain rides.
A full day of Lightning Lane passes on more than 40 attractions costs $15 per visitor per day. This may be bought in advance, with reservations beginning at 7 a.m. on the day of your visit.
At any one moment, only one Lightning Lane reservation may be utilized.
Visitors are restricted to just two tickets per day if they want to purchase Lightning Lane tickets a la carte via the Disney Genie+ app. The cost of a la carte tickets will vary depending on the attraction and the day.
