In a move to improve safety standards on board MSC Cruises, the company has updated its onboard procedures by extending the timeframe for passengers to request assistance from the crew.
To provide greater service to our valued travelers, MSC Cruises has updated our onboard service protocols for U.S. departures. The following changes will be implemented onboard all MSC Cruises U.S. flagged ships from the date of this blog. These changes are intended to enhance the guest experience, increase customer satisfaction, and reduce the occurrence of service-related issues.
The MSC Cruises website provides a wealth of helpful information for cruise shoppers, but they leave a lot to be desired when it comes to the in-depth knowledge they need in order to enjoy an MSC cruise. MSC Cruises ships have a number of in-cabin amenities that vary from ship to ship, but there are a few areas in which they can be found in all ships. These include a free in-cabin telephone service, a ship-wide channel with various entertainment options, and a private room with a television in cabin MSC High Speed Internet Access.
Cruise lines based in the United States are changing their procedures to ensure that cruises may continue safely and that they are in compliance with ports and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States (CDC). This includes MSC Cruises, which updated its procedures for U.S. voyages on September 3.
MSC Protocols Have Been Revised
MSC Cruises revised its procedures for its U.S. operations, which include three ships departing from Florida, on September 3. The cruise company is now following the Bahamas’ requirement that all cruise ship passengers 12 years and older be completely vaccinated in order for cruises to continue visiting the area. Guests must provide evidence of vaccination at least 14 days prior to sailing.
The Bahamas’ rule will be in effect until November 1, 2021, and it will apply to cruise ships visiting all of its ports, including cruise line own islands, such as MSC’s Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced modifications to the Conditional Sailing Order on August 27, with one of the most significant changes being the testing requirement. Guests must take a test no more than three days before arriving at the terminal for their cruise departure on all MSC cruises from the United States from September 3 to September 12.

As on September 13, passengers will be required to be tested within two days before the cruise leaves, in accordance with CDC standards. This may be the outcome of a PCR, NAAT, or antigen negative test. Other cruise companies are reducing their three-day testing period to two days, making things even more difficult for passengers.
Multiple ports and nations across the globe are concerned about the new versions. It’s unsurprising that MSC and other cruise companies are implementing similar changes. Despite the fact that the CDC’s Conditional Sailing Order is only required in the state of Florida, MSC Cruises has chosen to follow the rules to ensure the safety of everyone on board. Before any MSC cruise ship begins operations, all crew members are properly immunized.
The Restart in the United States Continues
MSC Cruises may continue with its phased-in return to service as long as the situation stays flexible and cruise lines adjust. The cruise company has already resumed operations in Europe, and it is one of the few cruise companies that will continue to sail until 2020.

On August 3, 2021, MSC Meraviglia became the first ship in the fleet to begin service from the United States. The ship is currently running three- and four-night Bahamas trips from Miami, Florida. MSC Meraviglia will commence seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises on September 18.
On September 16, 2021, MSC Divina will become the second ship in the fleet to resume service from the United States, and the first MSC cruise ship to ever call Port Canaveral home. Itineraries of three, four, and seven nights will be available on the ship.
The next ship to begin service will be the MSC Seashore, the new flagship, which will arrive in Miami on November 18 after her first season in the Mediterranean.
