Azamara Club Cruises is returning to South Africa this winter, marking the first time in five years the luxury cruise line has operated in the country.
Azamara Cruises is set to return to South Africa this winter. The cruise line has been in operation for less than a decade, but it has already managed to create a loyal following.
“A journey to Africa is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Azamara President Carol Cabezas, “which is why I am so happy to announce our passengers are now welcome back to South Africa after the reopening of its ports to international cruising.” “Azamara will once again provide unmatched pre- and post-cruise land programs, since Micato Safaris shares Azamara’s passion for travel, discovery, and creating one-of-a-kind experiences for travelers.”

Five nights before the trip and five nights after the cruise
Azamara guests will see two sides of South Africa, the first of which is the Kapama Game Reserve, which is home to over 40 animal species, including Africa’s Big Five: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and Cape buffalo.
Guests next travel to the Western Cape, a location with the ideal environment for producing world-class wines, to learn about the country’s wine region and sample local vintages.

Five nights before the trip and five nights after the cruise
Guests will journey from Zimbabwe to Botswana, stopping in Zimbabwe to see one of the world’s seven wonders, Victoria Falls. Through its collaboration with PerryGolf, Azamara will offer a 12-night Golf Voyage on its South African cruises.
The cruise will feature five rounds, starting with Humewood Golf Club, a genuine links course in Port Elizabeth that has held many PGA tournaments and is one of South Africa’s top ranked golf courses, providing a smooth golf cruise itinerary. East London, Zimbali, Durban Country Club, and Pearl Valley are among the other golf destinations.
Programming for Immersive Destination Experiences
One excursion option on the cruises is to visit Thula Thula, one of KwaZulu-oldest Natal’s private wildlife reserves. Join rangers on a trip through the African bushveld in an open-top 4×4 vehicle, looking for elephants, rhinoceros, leopards, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, birds, and more. The day comes to a close with a feast of native African food.
As part of Azamara’s Destination Celebration — a unique program that brings the destination’s culture and history to life aboard — guests will be treated to a District Six themed Cabaret Show on board.
The popular musical performance inspired by the history of Cape Town’s repressive past that attempted to destroy its community and spirit will take visitors on a trip into the heart of District Six for an evening intended to both amuse and educate.
Throughout the winter season, Azamara Pursuit will offer 16 late-night port stays and 11 overnights on its South Africa itineraries.
